Cath Kidston does Christmas!

Image

I love their paper bags more than anything!

I popped into Cath Kidston yesterday for a smooch around, and found a notebook that I fell for (as if I need any more). I just thought I’d to a post on it because I was blown away with their efforts to wrap and package my item so well. I was actually a little sneaky- they asked if it was a gift and I said yes… even though it’s for me. Why, I hear you ask? Well, I wanted my notebook wrapped in cute tissue paper. If you’re stuck on what to get someone for Christmas this year, I suggest having a look in your nearest branch and picking something up; they have lots to choose from, without having to break the bank (so long as you avoid the handbags). They do a wrapping service free of charge, which can’t be said for every shop. Here are some piccies:

As you can see. pretty awesome stuff. Is it just me that needs to take a moment after looking at the pages inside this notebook? I love the old-school vintage style. This was originally £8, but I got a discount on it (not quite sure how but not complaining) and it rang up on the till at £6.80. Let me know if you’ve got your eye on anything Cath Kidston… I for one am after a mug.

You Beauty Advent Calendar 2013

It’s pretty big

After reading many a blogpost about beauty advent calendars, I just knew I wanted one for myself. The thought of gaining a new beauty product (even if it’s only a small one) every day for 24 consecutive days makes me sigh with joy. There were several to choose from, but it came down to price and availability (the Boots one was gone in seconds I swear). I went with YouBeauty’s offering, after the positive reviews. Mine took 4 working days to arrive, which is ok. I’m very excited about it, and it is so hard restraining myself from opening those cute little doors.

This size of this baby is impressive, hence the picture above to show some comparison with my phone charging on the left. It is also relatively heavy, which is good- there is definitely a load of products in there. I have resisted the urge to read the magazine that came with it (containing product information) and covered my eyes when there were spoilers in some posts; I want to experience that element of surprise, like a small child opening ickle presents on Christmas day. To sum up the packaging- beautiful. I think the white works really well with the gold accents, and the white bow is just darling. The only pet peeve I have with this is the flaps on the inside being slightly ajar. No peeping, I told myself, whilst pushing them down again. I think that the cardboard doors need a little something more to keep them secure. Each compartment varies in size, which creates a rather fun guessing game as to what you think would fit into that shape of a hole. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase, and can’t wait till the 1st comes around.

The You Beauty advent calendar is still available here (hurry!) for £49.95 and £4.95 p+p. Considering the contents are worth over £240, not too shabby, really. But I can understand if you find it hard to justify spending that much on an advent calendar.

And now I pose a question to you- would you like me to post everyday up to the 24th December about what is behind each door? I am happy to do it, if you’d like- let me know.

Starbucks & Falling Leaves

Green Beanie: New Look

Black Cardigan: Primark

Cream Jumper: Charity Shop

Black Daisy print dress (shown as a skirt): Primark

Shoes: Marks and Spencer

Tights: Lord knows

Coffee: Starbucks

I think I’m getting into this jumper-over-dress thing. Just because it’s gettin’ colder, doesn’t mean those dresses have to disappear for good. If you were wondering, my drink of choice was a ‘Toffee Nut Latte’. It was tasty, but just a warning: they go a little kray with the toffee flavouring- very sweet indeed. When my hair’s been looking flat recently, I’ve been throwing beanies on- still expressing the fluffiness of my ends but concealing the not-very-cute-ness of my roots.

Wishlist #1

Wishlist 1

1)  I need more colour in my life. This jumper will suffice that need. I’ve been loving oversized jumpers (who hasn’t?) that I can easily throw on with a pair of leggings and some boots for these colder months. At the end of the day, I want to be comfy in what I’m wearing. Whenever I have a craving for a specific item of clothing, I recommend browsing somewhere like Ebay first- your wallet will thank you. It is far too dangerous otherwise 😉

2) Surprisingly enough, I never fell into the Peplum trend. But I think the style of top is very flattering, and when I saw this on the New Look website, I thought it’d be perfect for work. Very smart/casual/fun.  The daisy print is also appealing to me as I am grasping the remains of summer. Can we talk about how reliable New Look is when it comes to prices? I feel like it’s one of the only remaining shops on the high street that feeds my need to shop without necessarily bursting the bank.

3) I came across this lipstick from Vivianna’s Makeup Menu #3 video. It looked amazing on her, and I hope I can pull it off too. Moisturising lipsticks are always the better option during Autumn/Winter- they definitely work better with chapped lips.

4) I know the galaxy print thing has kinda passed now, but I couldn’t resist this. The only thing that I’m weary of is that it was called a ‘t shirt’ on the website, leading me to believe that the material is thin and not jumper-like. Banggood.com is very bargain-licious, but I’m not sure how the quality of the clothing compares to other places.

5) Skater skirts will always be a thing for me. The only one I have is neon orange, from Topshop a while back- not exactly wearable right now. This forest green colour is perfect I feel, but this skirt comes in many colours. The waffle texture just adds a little something-something. I plan on wearing a skirt like this with some warm tights and boots, because cold legs aren’t fun.

6) You can’t own too many jumpers. I love this lavender colour (although can’t stand the smell, is that just me?) and it looks nice and thick. I prefer wider necklines; crew neck type styles make me feel like I can’t breathe. I’ve not yet ordered from Romwe, but that could change soon…

7) Isn’t this the cutest darn dress you’ve ever seen? I’m in love. I’m digging anything with collars at the moment, and being black, this piece can be worn with anything. I like the old-fashioned-ness of it, I’m getting a Victorian vibe here.

8) My final want from Romwe is this satchel. I like how it combines the on-trend houndstooth print without it being too in-your-face. This bag looks very wearable, being monochrome, etc- I can see it working with the above dress mentioned.

So that concludes my first ever Wishlist post, hopefully the first of many more to come. What’s caught your eye recently?

Bye for now,

The Autumn Tag (including a furry friend)

Autumn: the season where the temperature suddenly drops, the colour of the leaves change, and the t shirts are replaced with jumpers. I wasn’t tagged to do this or anything, but I thought this would be a good chance for you to get to know me better. Please feel free to do this tag too, I’d love to give it a read. Let’s hop on in with the questions:
Favourite thing about Autumn?
The crisp-ness of the air. I love that! When the sun is shining and you’re wrapped up in a scarf and gloves. Of course, the cold isn’t always pleasant, but for some reason this not-quite-cold-enough-for-snow stage is what I love most.
Favourite drink?
Tea. Or coffee. I drink both regularly all year round, but there is something about drinking a hot drink whilst snuggled up inside, warming your hands as they defrost from the temperature of your mug, that makes it that much better.
Favourite scent/candle?
Baked goods. This includes cookie dough, cake, etc. *drools* I also love the smell of apples, in fact, I think I’m going to have to use the ‘crisp’ word again: crisp apples.
Best lipstick?
Any reds/corals/oranges! I think a bold lip colour completes an outfit, and just adds a little pizazz, setting you apart form the crowd, y’know? A particular kind of lipstick that I’d reccomend for the colder months (meaning dry, chapped lips) are the Revlon lip butters. We need that moisture! Alternatively, just use a good lip balm before applying that matte shade of yours.
Go-to moisturiser?
The Garnier moisture match for normal to dry skin (blue bottle) is my new morning friend when my skin needs a drink (every minute of every day). When I forget to moisturize, my skin feels all tight and horrible. Does anyone else get this?
Go-to colour for the eyes?
If we’re talking eyeshadow here, I’d say bronzey shimmery neutrals. I don’t own much eyeshadow at all, but I want to investigate the area. *browses online, drools over Naked palette* Basically the ‘I’m an Autumn leaf’ look.
Favourite music to listen to?
Right now I’m loving Passenger, John Mayer and Ed Sheeran. Anything along those lines is the kinda music I love to chill to after a long day.
Favourite outfit to wear?
Baggy cardigan, leggings, doc martens with knitted socks peeping out, a beanie, scarf and fingerless gloves. Cosy and snug as a bug!
Autumn treat?
Are we talking food? If so, where to start? Mum’s baking covers a wide range of yumminess: biscuits, shortbread, gooey ginger cake, etc…
Favourite place to be?
Outside. Being indoors whilst the sky is looking beautiful on the other side of the window makes me feel like an unproductive blob of nothingness. Even if it’s just in my garden equipped with my camera, I’m enjoying myself. Here is a picture that explains why I like being in my garden:
094
I don’t have any pets, so when the neighbor’s cat crawls through the fence and says hello, I get very excited. Cat’s amuse me. This little guy intertwined itself inbetween my legs and oh how it was fluffy. What’s that? You need more photo evidence? If you insist…
What a poser;)

What a poser;)

So that concludes this tag- share your thoughts in the comments ❤
