Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation Review

Hello, today I’m bringing you a review of Rimmel’s Wake Me Up Foundation- something everyone and their mother have been blogging about.

Previously I have only tried matte foundations, which at the end of the day weren’t doing the dry patches of my skin any favours (The product would gather and cling to certain patches on my face). I’d heard a lot about this particular foundation aiming to give a ‘dewey’ finish or ‘radiant glow’- worth a try, right? Especially with how tired and dull my skin looks as a result of little sleep. It blends really well with my stippling brush from Real Techniques and it contains little glittery bits that shimmer in the light (don’t worry, it’s not too much) adding to the radiance and wide-awake look. As for coverage, I’d say it was medium. It conceals flushed cheeks and redness, but I’m still in need of a concealer to hide those blemishes. This foundation lasts throughout the day pretty well, especially with the stay matte powder, also from Rimmel. In my opinion, this product is best-suited to people with normal/dry skin. However, with a trusty powder that you can rely on, it can work for everyone.

You can pick this up pretty much everywhere, such as here on Boots.com and there are six shades to choose from. I have 100 Ivory, which is the palest one available but still a little dark/orangey for me, but nothing that a bit of blending can’t handle. Have you tried this? If so, what do you think?

Review: Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick

Whilst strolling the aisles of Boots the other day for the perfect Marilyn Munroe lippie, I came across this. The shade ‘Alarm’ looked good swatched in the store, so at just £4.99 there were no second thoughts- it was already mine. I should point out that although this is marketed with a ‘smooth creamy texture’, I found it relatively creamy to apply, but the end result is quite matte. As far as pigmentation goes, I’m impressed- it is very true to colour. For the ‘intense long-lasting colour for up to 8 hours’ I would definitely be layering it to build up an opaque colour. Another feature I am partial to with this is the shape of the lipstick; the sharp point is effective for outlining the lips before filling in. I understand that for a lipstick this is quite normal, but for drugstore lip products, this isn’t always a given. Overall, a good quality lipstick for the price (God bless Rimmel for being affordable). Below you can get an idea of what it looks like on me:

Any excuse for ducklips, eh? 😉

Let me know what you think of the colour. There is a varied colour range, if you’re not into the reds- this lipstick is available here amongst it’s 9 other shades. I noticed on the website ‘Alarm’ looked on the pinky side, but as you can see form the photos above, it really isn’t very pinky. Weird.

Anyway, that wraps up today’s post. Bye for now!

Wishlist #1

Wishlist 1

1)  I need more colour in my life. This jumper will suffice that need. I’ve been loving oversized jumpers (who hasn’t?) that I can easily throw on with a pair of leggings and some boots for these colder months. At the end of the day, I want to be comfy in what I’m wearing. Whenever I have a craving for a specific item of clothing, I recommend browsing somewhere like Ebay first- your wallet will thank you. It is far too dangerous otherwise 😉

2) Surprisingly enough, I never fell into the Peplum trend. But I think the style of top is very flattering, and when I saw this on the New Look website, I thought it’d be perfect for work. Very smart/casual/fun.  The daisy print is also appealing to me as I am grasping the remains of summer. Can we talk about how reliable New Look is when it comes to prices? I feel like it’s one of the only remaining shops on the high street that feeds my need to shop without necessarily bursting the bank.

3) I came across this lipstick from Vivianna’s Makeup Menu #3 video. It looked amazing on her, and I hope I can pull it off too. Moisturising lipsticks are always the better option during Autumn/Winter- they definitely work better with chapped lips.

4) I know the galaxy print thing has kinda passed now, but I couldn’t resist this. The only thing that I’m weary of is that it was called a ‘t shirt’ on the website, leading me to believe that the material is thin and not jumper-like. Banggood.com is very bargain-licious, but I’m not sure how the quality of the clothing compares to other places.

5) Skater skirts will always be a thing for me. The only one I have is neon orange, from Topshop a while back- not exactly wearable right now. This forest green colour is perfect I feel, but this skirt comes in many colours. The waffle texture just adds a little something-something. I plan on wearing a skirt like this with some warm tights and boots, because cold legs aren’t fun.

6) You can’t own too many jumpers. I love this lavender colour (although can’t stand the smell, is that just me?) and it looks nice and thick. I prefer wider necklines; crew neck type styles make me feel like I can’t breathe. I’ve not yet ordered from Romwe, but that could change soon…

7) Isn’t this the cutest darn dress you’ve ever seen? I’m in love. I’m digging anything with collars at the moment, and being black, this piece can be worn with anything. I like the old-fashioned-ness of it, I’m getting a Victorian vibe here.

8) My final want from Romwe is this satchel. I like how it combines the on-trend houndstooth print without it being too in-your-face. This bag looks very wearable, being monochrome, etc- I can see it working with the above dress mentioned.

So that concludes my first ever Wishlist post, hopefully the first of many more to come. What’s caught your eye recently?

Bye for now,
